Hello! I am a parent of two students in the district and the spouse of a district employee. I have followed the work of our school board more closely over the past several years, and when it became clear there would likely be vacancies, I began asking two questions: Who will step forward to serve, and what could I bring to the table?

I believe our district benefits from board members who are invested in the well-being and success of our students. I know I can bring that commitment consistently and without wavering. I also know I can commit the time, energy, and thoughtfulness that this role requires—and that I would find the work meaningful and purposeful.

Professionally, I have been a Doctor of Physical Therapy for 20 years. That role has required me to be analytical and goal-oriented, while also being an educator, a listener, and an encourager. Most importantly, it has taught me to remain focused on the person in front of me—even when resources are limited, circumstances are difficult, or there are competing priorities. I believe those skills have strong carryover to the work of a school board member. Throughout my professional career, I have excelled in environments where clearly defined roles, goals, policies, and procedures are important. I have often found myself helping organizations develop and improve those systems. I believe that experience translates well to school board governance. I have Board experience happily serving with the North Oakland Community Coalition for over a year.

I understand that serving on a school board means setting aside personal feelings, beliefs, and politics when making decisions. My responsibility would be to govern alongside the other members of the board, follow established policies and laws, evaluate the superintendent, and keep the education and well-being of students at the center of our work.

I have chosen to run alongside Acheson, Riddle, and Kreger. When there were initially four candidates for four open seats, we began communicating with one another about our reasons for running and what we hoped to contribute. We know that effective boards won’t and shouldn’t always agree. Despite our different perspectives and experiences, we found that we shared several important principles: a student-centered mindset, a willingness to listen and collaborate, and a commitment to putting the interests of our students and community ahead of personal agendas.

I look forward to connecting with our community, listening to our stakeholders, and working together to support the schools and values that matter to all of us. Let’s create the best possible place for Oxford students! 💙💛

Hi, Oxford! I’m Ann Acheson, and I’m asking for your vote to continue serving on the Oxford Community Schools Board of Education.

For me, serving Oxford comes down to something simple: I show up.

I show up prepared at the Board table. I show up in our schools and at student, staff and community events. I show up at countywide school board meetings to advocate for Oxford, learn from neighboring districts, and build relationships that benefit our district.

And I keep learning. Just like we expect our staff to keep learning through professional development, since joining the Board in 2024, I’ve made professional development through MASB trainings, conferences and governance education a priority. Oxford has invested in my growth as a trustee, and I’m committed to putting that knowledge to work for our students and community.

Professionally, I’m an attorney in the Family Division of the Oakland County Circuit Court. My work has taught me to listen carefully, navigate difficult issues with compassion, respect process, evaluate facts, and make thoughtful decisions, even when those decisions are hard.

Oxford deserves leaders who are prepared, steady, accessible and willing to listen. You don’t have to agree with me to talk with me. I welcome questions, different perspectives and respectful conversation.

I believe strong boards focus on students, govern with transparency, hold themselves accountable, and work together even when they disagree.

I’m ready to keep showing up, keep learning, and help lead Oxford confidently into its next chapter.

I would be honored to earn your vote on November 3.

💙 ANN ACHESON — Putting Students First. Every Decision. Every Day. 💛
